Harriet Horry Pyatt Grimes, 89, wife of Senator C. Claymon Grimes, Jr., died Sunday, October 5, 2014, at her residence.
Mrs. Grimes was born in Greenville on July 30, 1925, the daughter of Edward Nowell Pyatt and Harriet Horry Lowndes Cain Pyatt. She grew up in Greenville, graduated from Anderson High School, and attended Anderson College. She served as a Red Cross volunteer during W. W. II. Mrs. Grimes was a long time communicant of Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the Episcopal Church Women and also, served as a docent. She was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames. Mr. and Mrs. Grimes recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on October 4, 2014.
Surviving include: her husband of Georgetown; two sons, John P. "Jack" Grimes (Norma) and C. C. "Bubba" Grimes. III, both of Georgetown; a daughter, Harriet "Happy" G. Wilcox (Norman) of Georgetown; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside memorial services will be Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at three o'clock in Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Churchyard. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul C. Fuener. A reception will follow in the Parrish Hall following the service.
