Georgetown:
Harris Hall Gabbie, 93, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at home.
Mr. Gabbie was born in Tiller, Ark. on September 16, 1910, a son of the late Henry Grady Gabbie and Annie May Barnet Gabbie. He moved to Georgetown in August of 1948 and worked at International Paper Co. until his retirement on October 1, 1975. Mr. Gabbie also leased The Rice Cottage at Pawley's Island and operated it for 36 years. He spent his winters in Fort Pierce, Fla. with friends after retirement. Mr. Gabbie was a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Nell B. Gabbie of Georgetown; five nieces, Sylvia B. Beard and her husband Roy of Shreveport, La., Bobbie Jeanette Carter and her husband James of Athens, Ga., Deloris Ann Pol of Pascagoula, Miss., Janice Fitzgerald of Belchertown, Mass., and Gwen Kyle of Knoxville, Tenn.; and six nephews, Claude Brister and his wife Jayna of Houston, Tex., Ford Summers of Georgetown, James Otis Gabbie and his wife Glenda of Helena, Ark., James Ernest Brister and his wife Vicki of New Mexico, Kenneth Brister and his wife Virginia of Lake Providence, La., and Robert Vernon Hart of Pascagoula, Miss.
Funeral services will be Friday afternoon, April 2, 2004 at three o'clock in the Chapel of Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Officiating will be The Rev. Dr. J. Ben Sloan. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from two until three o'clock in the Chapel.
