Harry Arlie White Jr., 88, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026, at his home in Andrews, SC. He was the son of, Harry Arlie White Sr., and Julia Elizabeth Sims. He was known as "Sugar Boy" by those who knew him.
Harry worked in the family Business White's Trailer Sales & Fabrication Service. In addition to fabricating trailers, they also designed, fabricate and erect structural steel and miscellaneous metals for sawmills and construction industries in the area providing the best quality of work. The business was established in 1942.
Harry grew up in the shop with his siblings learning the day to day operations and continued to work after graduating from school. The small company went from repairing chain saws to designing, inventing and getting a patent on a "Pulp Wood Loader'', which Harry called his "baby", to building log trailers and repairing logging equipment. The News & Courier did an article and International Paper Co. executive quoted, that he probably has done more for pulpwood cutters in Georgetown County than any one man he knew.
Harry's brother, Edward, saw that traveling millwright work was the future for White's business. He has taken the company from local to up and down the east coast with a team of co-workers that has been with the company for years with lots of experience in the industry. Harry was proud of where they come from and what the future held working with some of the world's leading manufacturing. Harry retired in 2019 celebrating 75 years of service.
Harry enjoyed Black River, fishing in his one man boat with no motor only two paddles. Harry had a compassionate heart helping others.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Sarah White Bouchette, two sisters; Mary Elizabeth White, Ethel Rathel, two brothers; Edward Lee White, and Thomas James White.
Harry is survived by his children, Becky Davis (Cecil) and Harry Leo White (Jayne); his grandchildren, Lukas Harrell White (Brooke), Mary Grace White, Justin Edward Davis, and Alexandra Paige Hayes (Josiah "JT''); and his great-grandchildren, Haley Davis, Jason Davis, Rivers Wade Hayes, and soon to arrive, Paxton Carter White.
