Obituary

Georgetown: Hazel Charland, 95, died Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Prince George Health Center. A memorial service will be held at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church Thursday December 6, 2007 at 10 A.M. Arrangements are made by the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Mrs. Charland was born March 14, 1912 in Seattle, Washington. She was predeceased by: her husband of 61years, Ernest M. Charland , and a daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor and Leonard Johnson, as well as two sisters, Irene Watson, Doris Burkey and a brother George Dunham. Surviving is her daughter and son-in- law, Carolyn and John McBride, grandchildren, Brenda Martin ( and husband Joe of Georgetown), Rob McBride (and wife Sabrina) of Virginia, Eric Johnson (and wife Sarah) of Virginia, Sarah Burkart (and husband Michael) of Florida, as well as five great- grandchildren, Benjamin and Matthew Martin, Sarah and Michele Burkart, and Eleanor Johnson. Mrs. Charland was a graduate of the University of Washington and worked in the field of Home Economics. She was active in her home church, served several terms as PTA president, as well as president of Euthenics, and leader of Camp Fire. In 2000 Mrs. Charland moved to Rochester, N.Y and in 2003 moved to Georgetown. She continued her love of people, bridge, reading and enjoying new experiences.
