Obituary

Georgetown: Helen McBride Broach, 92, widow of John A. Broach, died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Broach was born in Strawberry on November 4, 1920, a daughter of the late John William McBride and Elizabeth Lee Avant McBride. She grew up in St. Stephen and attended school in New York City. Mrs. Broach graduated from Joan of Arc High School in New York City and attended Business school. She retired from the Georgetown County Treasurer's Office. Mrs. Broach was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and the Susanna Wesley Church School class. Surviving are: two daughters, Elaine Raines (David) of Frankfort, Ky. and Shirley Monteith (Charles) of Columbia; a step-daughter, Jacqueline Bruorton of Decatur, Ala.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Tommy and Alice Watson. Funeral services will be held at ten o'clock on Tuesday morning, July 23, 2013, at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Dora Gafford.
