Obituary

Pawleys Island: Helen Victoria Busta, 84, passed away on October 7, 2006 during the early morning hours peacefully at her daughter, Kathy, and son-in-law's, Jimmy Erbe, home. Mrs. Busta was born December 3, 1921 in Cohoes, N. Y., a daughter of the late Vincent Cihala and Victoria Kielian Cihala. She worked as a waitress for over 60 years in numerous places. The last place she worked was the Woolworth Corporation, which closed its doors in 1993, at which time, she retired at 73 years of age. She loved her job even after 58 years. Mrs. Busta was loved by all her customers that she served over those years, several of which she still had contact with. She worked all during the time her children were school age but never missed fixing a home cooked meal each night for dinner. She lived most of her life in Watervliet, N. Y. with her late husband, William L. Busta, who passed away December 5, 2005. Together they moved to Pawleys Island three years ago to be near their daughter. Helen and William shared the love and fondness of the outdoors and traveled frequently to the Adirondacks and Cape Cod, Mass. Helen was an avid reader and loved to play bingo. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Busta was predeceased by: a brother, Casmir Cihala. Surviving are: a daughter, Kathy Erbe and her husband Jimmy of Pawleys Island; a son, Bruce Busta and his wife Roberta of Stuyvesant, N. Y.; a brother, Stanley Cihala and his wife Mary of Troy, N. Y.; three sisters, Harriett Bull of Mechanicville, N. Y., Frances Maychack of Dayton, Ohio, Mary Jagielski of Schenectady, N. Y.; three grandchildren, Mark Busta, Scott Busta and his wife Holly, and Adam Busta and his wife Taryn; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nephews and nieces.
