Pawleys Island: Helen Drummond Parsons Horton, 95, died December 20, 2006. Mrs. Horton was born October 14, 1911 in Fountain Inn, the daughter of the late Magruder Jackson and Elizabeth Allen Drummond Parsons. She grew up in Fountain Inn, graduated from Winthrop University, and lived in Rock Hill, Charlotte, N. C., and Troy, N. C. prior to moving to Pawleys Island in 1976. Mrs. Horton was primarily a wife and mother but had also worked as a teacher and fashion coordinator. She was an active member of Pawleys Island Community Church. She was predeceased by: her husband of 54 years, Belton Cunningham Horton, Jr., who died in 1991; a daughter, Sylvia Bruce Horton, who died in 1969; and ten siblings. Surviving are: a daughter, Barbara Elizabeth Horton of Pawleys Island; a son, Belton Cunningham Horton, III and his wife Tereda of Albemarle, N. C.; grandchildren, Freda Horton Almond and her husband Tony, Ben Horton, Aaron Barbee and his wife Lisa, Timothy Barbee, and Sandra Barbee Nance and her husband Rodney; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be one o'clock Friday afternoon, December 22, 2006, at the graveside in Salem Cemetery in Heath Springs.
