Georgetown: Helen Mae Young, 92, of Belle Isle Yacht Club and Villas, passed away on March 28, 2015, following a short illness. Helen was born in Ansted, W.V. on August 1, 1922, a daughter of the late William Hall and Grace Smith Hall of Ansted, where she spent her childhood. She at one time was married to the late Ray U. Young. During her lifetime, Helen resided in Beckley, W.V., Chicago, Ill., Florence, and Georgetown. She worked as a surgical nurse for many years before becoming an infection control nurse and was a pioneer in the infection control program in several West Virginia hospitals. Eventually she moved to Chicago, where she was a co-owner of Reliance Medical Supply Company. Helen is survived by a son, Charles Lee Young, and his wife, Stephanie, with whom she was living at the time of her death; and two daughters, Judy Eakin and Peggy Brown, both of Beckley, W. V. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Tammy Young (SC); David Eakin (TX), Kista Eakin (TX); Paul DiBacco (NY); Matthew DiBacco (WV); Daniel Mace (ID), Jeff Mace (NC); and Ashley Dingle and Brooke Floyd (SC); eleven great grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild. Memorial services will be held at the Belle Isle Yacht Club on Saturday April 11 at 2:00 PM at the Belle Isle Yacht Club at 1142 Belle Isle Road, Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in memory of Helen Young to Belle Isle Yacht Club Beautification Fund, 1142 Belle Isle Road, Georgetown, S. C. 29440.
