Obituary

Georgetown: Henry Malhman Morgan, 86, died Thursday, March 22, 2007, at Trident Medical Center in Charleston. Mr. Morgan was born Lubec, Me. on December 28, 1920, a son of the late George Alonzo Morgan and Mabel Elizabeth Somers Morgan. He grew up in Maine and joined the Merchant Marines at an early age. Mr. Morgan was a former Fire Chief of Hanahan and Georgetown and later worked until retirement with the S. C. State Fire Marshall's Office in Columbia. He was the widower of Sarah Ruth Oldham Morgan. Mr. Morgan was a member of Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the L. and M. Church School Class and the "Young at Heart" Group. He was also a Certified Lay Reader. Mr. Morgan was also a member of Winyah Lodge #40 Ancient Freemasons and Carolina Lodge #375 Ancient Freemasons. Surviving are: three sons, George A. Morgan of Goose Creek, Bobby C. Franks and Jerry L. Franks, both of Cottageville; two daughters, Anna Lundy Franks Stein of Sumter and Julia M. Avant of Georgetown; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be two o'clock Sunday afternoon, March 25, 2007, at Herbert United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael Leonhardt and the Rev. Richard Jayroe. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Sign a guest book at www.mayerfuneralhome.com.
