Andrews:
Herbert Clyde "Ted" Davis, Sr., beloved husband of Emma Clemons Davis, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 3, 2010.
Born on May 10, 1928 in the Clinch Mountains of Sneedville, Tenn., Ted was the son of Lewis and Kate Davis. He was a proud Army veteran and former security guard for Oneita Industries. Despite his physical limitations, Ted was always full of humor and joy. He never met a stranger and will be fondly remembered for his many funny antics. Ted loved fast cars, good food, flashy jewelry, and practical jokes, but above all of these he loved Emma, his wife of 53 years.
Ted leaves behind: four children, Robin Davis Newton (Raymond), Herbert C. Davis, Jr. and Susan Davis Lambert (Donnie), all of Andrews, and Jill Davis DeShaw (David) of Windermere, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Amber Driggers McBee (Jason), Jared Driggers, Dustin Lambert, Chad Lambert (Laci), Tyler Davis, Trevor Davis, Dylan DeShaw, and Emma Cary DeShaw; two great-grandchildren, Davis McBee and Ana Kate Lambert; one brother, Edsel Davis of Marietta, Ga.; and one sister, Gladys Livesy of Kyles Ford, Tenn. He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at Trinity United Methodist Church on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 2:00 o'clock. Officiating will be the Rev. David D. Marcy. Burial will follow at Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 o'clock.
