Andrews:
Herman Esmond Newton, 74, died Thursday, May 09, 2013, at Carolinas Hospital in Florence.
Mr. Newton was born in Andrews on August 21, 1938, a son of the late Robert B. Newton and Mary Cleo Thomas Newton. He graduated from Andrews High School and lived all of his live in the Andrews area. Mr. Newton was a former employee of Oneita Industries and Kingstree Knits. He was also a part owner of Williamsburg Knits at the time of his retirement. Mr. Newton was a member of Gourdines Chapel Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Carol Geddings Newton of Andrews; three sons, Matthew E. Newton (Jennifer) of Greenville, Joseph H. Newton (Danielle) of Andrews, and Wessley S. Newton of Chapin; four brothers, John Newton ( Judy), Mark Newton (Ann) , and Laurie Newton (Joan) all of Andrews, and David Newton of Litchfield Beach; a sister, Judy Newton of Andrews; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning, May 11, 2013, at eleven o'clock in Gourdines Chapel Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Themos Cribb and the Rev. Ben Gafford. Burial will follow in Gourdines Chapel Churchyard.
