Andrews:
Herman Francis Ray, 76, passed on to his heavenly home on Wednesday, October 9, 2013.
Mr. Ray was born in Williamsburg County on October 31, 1936, a son of the late Willie Francis Ray and Daisy Benton Ray. He served in the U. S. Army during the Cuban Crisis. Mr. Ray worked for the N. Charleston Fire Dept. and later retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 26 years of service. He was a member of Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Betty Brantley Ray of Andrews; a son, Herman Francis Ray, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Theresa Ann Ray of James Island; a granddaughter, Brittany Hewett Ray of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, Edward F. Ray of California and Carl Ray (Wanda) of Andrews; and a sister, Margie McCants of Andrews.
Funeral services will be held at eleven o'clock on Saturday morning, October 12, 2013, at Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dean Baber. Burial will follow at Piney Forest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, October 11, 2013, at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from seven until nine o'clock.
