Pawleys Island:
Herman Davies Scurry, Sr. 82, widower of LeVeta "Lolly" Johnston Scurry, died Monday, October 10, 2016 at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mr. Scurry was born July 30, 1934, a son of the late Kenneth Austin Scurry, Sr. and Sarah Wilma Harrelson Scurry. He was a native and lifelong resident of Pawleys Island, where he was a member and deacon of the Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church. Mr. Scurry worked for International Paper Company for forty-seven years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club until retiring in 2000. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and lover of all outdoors-and most especially his Waccamaw River. He was the happiest when farming, building and taking care of his family. Mr. Scurry was president and founding member of the Pawleys Island Hardee's breakfast club. He was a most grateful man and loved and trusted his God through the good and bad times.
He is survived by: a son, Hermie Scurry of Pawleys Island; two daughters, Joye Scurry Veitch (Scott) of Mt. Pleasant and Kelli Scurry of Chapin; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
Funeral Services will be at two o'clock Thursday afternoon, October 13, 2016, at Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the Pawleys Island Presbyterian Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the Church from one until two.
