Georgetown: Inez Hiott Gunter, 85, died Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Tideland Community Hospice House. Mrs. Gunter was born in Walterboro on September 21, 1921, a daughter of the late Lewis Newton Hiott and Salley Cobia Hiott. She moved to Georgetown after World War II. Mrs. Gunter was a Licensed Practical Nurse and was employed by Georgetown Memorial Hospital for over thirty years with most of her employment in the hospital nursery. Mrs. Gunter was a member of First Baptist Church and Winyah Chapter #148, Order of the Eastern Star. She was the widow of D. Ocie Gunter. Surviving are: two sons, Roland C. (Mildred) Gunter of Georgetown and Timothy O. (Robin) Gunter of Holly Springs, N. C.; a daughter, Wanda G. (Jim) Rowland of Columbia; four grandchildren; Tracie G. Bowe of Lexington, Mitchell W. Gunter of Georgetown, Ashley F. Gunter and Erin R. Gunter, both of Wilmington, N. C.; and two great-grandchildren, Alex Bowe and Christopher Bowe, both of Lexington. Funeral services will be three o'clock Monday afternoon, August 6, 2007, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael Leonhardt. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home Sunday evening, August 5, 2007 from six until eight.
