Pawleys Island: Irene Winfrey Hardy, 89, died Friday, December 21, 2007, at her residence. Mrs. Hardy was born in Athens, Ga. on September 2, 1918, a daughter of the late Charles Robert Winfrey and Mary Elizabeth Aubelle Epps Winfrey. She was a former Horry County School dietician and seamstress for Ruth's Drapery in Myrtle Beach. Mrs. Hardy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach and the widow of Clarence (Jack) Hardy. Surviving are: two sons, Charles H. Owens and his wife Phail Altman Owens of Pawleys Island and LaVon Owens and his wife Patty Larimore Owens of Myrtle Beach; six grandsons, three great-grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.
