Georgetown: Iris Shoemaker Harrelson, 94, widow of the Daniel "Dan" James Harrelson, died Sunday, October 1, 2017, at the Lakes at Litchfield in Pawleys Island. Mrs. Harrelson was born in Statesville, NC on June 11, 1923, a daughter of the late Roy Albert Shoemaker and O'Shield Dingler Shoemaker. She attended Irdell County Schools and later received a degree in nursing. Mrs. Harrelson worked for Georgetown Memorial Hospital for a number of years as a practical nurse. She was a member the First Baptist Church of Georgetown. Mrs. Harrelson enjoyed working in her yard attending to her flowers. She was a loving mother and grandmother. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Harrelson was predeceased by: a brother, William "Bill" A. Shoemaker. Surviving are: two sons, Jimmy Harrelson (Kathy) and Danny Harrelson both of Georgetown; and a daughter, Sylvia Ann Harrelson Bates of Charleston; and four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two nieces.
