Irving Henry "Hal" Stearns, Jr., 71, widower of Glenda Sue Stearns, died Monday, January 12, 2015, at his residence.
Mr. Stearns was born in Georgetown on March 20, 1943, a son of the late Irving Henry Stearns and Kathryn Smith Stearns. He grew up in Georgetown and graduated from Andrews High School. Mr. Stearns served in the military reserves and worked for International Paper Company for over 30 years. He was a member of Sampit United Methodist Church. Mr. Stearns loved animals and nature.
Surviving are: a son, Daniel Hal Stearns of Houston, Tex.; a daughter, Katherine Susanne McDaniel of Georgetown; three grandchildren, David Harold McDaniel, III, Jonathan Andrew McDaniel, and Christopher Thomas McDaniel; and two sisters, Kathy Hyde of Troy, Mich. and Linda Salani of Hendersonville, NC.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock on Thursday afternoon, January 15, 2015, at Sampit United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Kertis Hewitt. Burial will follow in Sampit United Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Sampit United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
