Georgetown: Iva Thompson Altman, 87, died Sunday, May 9, 2010, at her residence. Mrs. Altman was born on August 31, 1922 in Hemingway, a daughter of the late Bland Haddon Thompson and Eva Louise Macdougal Thompson. Surviving are: a brother, Dell Thompson of Amelia Island, Fla.; a sister, Jane Thompson Maroney of Georgetown; a daughter-in-law, Linda Faye Altman of Georgetown; and three grandchildren, Jason Ryan Altman, John Ashley Altman and Charlie Dennis Altman, all of Georgetown. Mrs. Altman was predeceased by: her husband, Charlie Altman; two sons, Charlie D. Altman and John Walker Altman; two brothers, Bland H. Thompson, Jr. and Thomas Glen Thompson, Sr.; and three sisters, Fairey Owens, Annell Taylor and Mary Lou Taylor. Funeral services will be at Ringel Heights Baptist Church on Wednesday morning, May 12, 2010, at eleven o'clock. Officiating will be the Rev. Chris E. Giles and the Rev. Themos J. Cribb. Burial will follow at Ebenezer United Methodist Cemetery in Hemingway at three o'clock.
