Georgetown:
Ivan Earl "Big Daddy" Parsons, Sr., 85, widower of Barbara Gaultney Parsons, died Friday, November 15, 2012, at Prince George Healthcare Center.
Mr. Parsons was born on October 13, 1927 in Andrews, a son of the late Clifford Delmaine Parsons and Lucile Nona McConnell Parsons. He grew up in Georgetown and attended Winyah High School. Mr. Parsons served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was the former owner of Parsons Esso and owned and operated Parsons Auto Radiator and Repair, Inc. and Francis Marion Convenience Store.
Surviving are: a son, I. Earl Parsons, Jr. (Marsha) of Hemingway; a daughter, Barbara P. Al-Yousuf (Sabah) of Dubai, United Arab Emirates; four grandchildren, DeLacy P. Cooper (David) and Scott Parsons (Melanie), both of Georgetown, Hussein Al-Yousuf (Mariam) of Raleigh, N.C., and Lalia Al-Yousuf (Saeed Belquaizi) of Dubai, United Arab Emirates; five great-grandchildren, Bennett and Camdyn Lawshe and Grey, Reed and Hillary Parsons; a brother, William H. Parsons of Barnwell; and two sisters, Miriam L. Thomas of Murrells Inlet and Evelyn P. Weaver of Ocala, Fla.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Parsons was predeceased by: four brothers, Louis, Delmaine, Florin and Norman Parsons; and a sister, Velma Turner.
Funeral services will be at two o'clock on Sunday afternoon, November 18, 2012, at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Officiating will be the Rev. Kenneth Johnson. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.
The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon, November 17, 2012, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from four until six o'clock.
