Hanover, Va.: Jack A. Butts, Jr., 61 gained Independence on Saturday, July 4, 2009. Jack served proudly in the U. S. Marine Corps during Vietnam, where he received the Purple Heart. He was a Past Master of Ashland, Va. Masonic Lodge #168 A.F. &A.M., and a member of the Scottish Rite, Shrines, and Royal Arch. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Freeman Butts; a daughter, Stephanie Michelle Dorton (Scott); a son, Joseph Oliver Butts (Thu-Thuy Phan); two sisters, Janice Butts and Lisa High; and six grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 at Nelsen Funeral Home � Reid Chapel in Ashland, Va., where a Celebration of Life Service will he held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, with Masonic Rites following at 7:30 pm.
