McClellanville: Jackie Lavigno Morrison of Laurel Hill Plantation in McClellanville, South Carolina, died on August 11, 2015. Born on October 29, 1940 to Ida Whaley and Stirling Lavigno, she graduated from the Medical University College of Nursing in 1961. An avid antique collector and dealer, she also ran the Laurel Hill Bed and Breakfast for twenty years and served as President of the South Carolina Bed and Breakfast Association. She served on the board of the McClellanville Arts Council, the McClellanville Civic Club, and as a member of the Charleston County Greenbelt Commission. She enjoyed being a member of the Charleston Camellia Society, the Georgetown Supper Club, Herb Society and the Pawley's Island Lunch Bunch. She and her husband Lee had an abiding interest in the cultivation of camellias. They showed camellias and judged at camellia shows throughout the Southeast. A gifted artist, cross stitcher, rug hooker, and cook, her greatest talent was her generous love and support of her family and friends. A communicant of St. James-Santee Episcopal Church, she served as chalice bearer and co-chair of the Morrison House Committee. She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Dr. Richard Leland Morrison, III; her loving children, Elise Morrison, Roxanne Morrison and her partner Jack Brittain; and her grandchildren, Lawson and Michael Hardee. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15th, at St. James-Santee Episcopal Church (Brick Church) on Old Georgetown Highway. A reception will follow at Laurel Hill.
