Georgetown: Jacob Henry Monte, Jr., 86, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Prince George HealthCare. Mr. Monte was born in Greensboro, NC on September 16, 1928, a son of the late Jacob Henry Monte, Sr. and Marvel Milloway Monte. He grew up in Georgetown, graduated from Winyah High School, and attended The Citadel. Mr. Monte served in the US Army and the US Naval Reserve. He owned and operated Monte's Shell Station and later operated Monte's Auto Service until his retirement. Mr. Monte spent a good portion of his time volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and Helping Hands and was a very active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. He loved to entertain people with his gift of being a great story-teller and was a long-time avid Boston Red Sox fan. Memorial services will be held on at two o'clock on Saturday afternoon, June 14, 2014, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Pastor Ron Hartman.
