Obituary

Jacqueline Cooper Ward was born in Kingstree, Williamsburg County, S.C., on July 27, 1937, a daughter of the late Samuel Leroy Cooper and Ruby Cooper Cooper.

She grew up in Trio, South Carolina, and was a graduate of Williamsburg High School Class of 1955. She married the love of her life, Franklin Roosevelt Ward, and they later moved to Georgetown where she began her career as a legal secretary for the late Cecil W. Schneider, Attorney, in 1955. Upon his death she worked for his law partner, Robert H. O'Donnell for a combined total of forty-three years, until her retirement in 1998.

After retirement, she became a Volunteer at Georgetown Memorial Hospital where she earned a 5,000-hour pin. She was also a past member of the Georgetown Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

She was an active member of Wayne Methodist Church serving in several capacities, including Recording Secretary of Church Council and Church Treasurer for a number of years. She was also Recording Secretary and Treasurer of the Wayne Methodist Women, and was active in the Barnes Sunday School Class.

Surviving are her two sons, Franklin Dennis Ward and his wife, Lisa P. Ward, of Georgetown, S.C., and Kevin Lee Ward and his wife, Kendall G. Ward, of Pawleys Island, S.C.; three grandchildren, Kellie Elizabeth Ward Moxley, (Hunter), Cameron Lee Ward and Carson Franklin Ward; a step-granddaughter, Kayla Mau; two great grandsons, Preston and Baylor Moxley; four step-great grandchildren, Tanner, Paxton, Macey, and Cameron Paternott; and two nieces, Leigha Cooper Brown (Rick), and Joni Cooper Truluck (Klay); one great nephew, Robert Truluck; one great niece, Mary Truluck, her brother-in-law, David Tisdale, and a number of her late husband's nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband of 68 years, and "Granny" to her grandchildren and great-grands. Her happiest days were those spent in the kitchen cooking for the children and having them spend time with her and, of course, their "Papa."

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, John Benjamin Cooper; her sister, Allison Cooper Dillard Tisdale; her sister-in-law, Mary Catherine G. Cooper; her brother-in-law, Henry D. Dillard; and her nephew, Henry D. "Chip" Dillard, Jr. She was also predeceased by her husband's brothers and sisters, their spouses and several of their children.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Maryville Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home.
