Georgetown:
James Sparkman Bourne, III, 59, beloved husband, brother, son and friend, passed away very peacefully in his sleep on Thursday morning, February 3, 2011, at his home. He was a friend to all and loved by many.
Mr. Bourne was born in Florence on July 6, 1951, a son of James Sparkman Bourne, Jr. and the late Martha Daniel Bourne. He received his Master of Journalism from the University of South Carolina.
Surviving, in addition to his Father, are: his wife, Carolyn A. Bourne of Georgetown; a son, Lucas Bourne of Cary, N. C.; two sisters; Lynette Bourne Miller (Edwin) of Mt. Pleasant and Patrice Bourne Ramsbottom (James) of Austin, Tex.; a brother, Mickey Bourne (Sue) of Alexandria, Va.; a granddaughter, Arianna Bourne; two nieces, Berkeley Cox of Austin, Tex. and Townsend Bourne of Arlington, Va.; two step-sons, Jim Royster of Tampa, Fla. and Beau Royster of New Orleans, La.; and Mother-in-law, Claire Abee.
Memorial services will be at two o'clock on Saturday afternoon, February 5, 2011, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. G. Edward Usher.
The family will receive friends at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home on Friday evening, February 4, 2011, from six until eight o'clock.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to SCELP, P. O. Box 1380, Pawley's Island, S. C. 29585.
