Georgetown:
James Leroy Hanna, 84, died Thursday, October 7, 2004, at the Medical University of S.C.
Mr. Hanna was born in the Pleasant Hill Community of Georgetown County on April 20, 1920, a son of the late Willie Hanna and Estelle Miller Hanna. He lived in the area all of his life. Mr. Hanna was a member of Winyah Lodge #40, Ancient Free Masons. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church and the Spirit of Liberty Sunday School Class.
Surviving are: his wife, Peggy Strawn Hanna of Georgetown; a son, James Earl Hanna of Georgetown; two sisters, Cleola H. Prine of Eastover and Viola H. Rowe of Pawley's Island; a step-son, Carl Parks Helms of Columbia; a step-daughter, Linda Carter of Columbia; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
Mr. Hanna was predeceased by his first wife, Bertha Avant Hanna.
Funeral services will be on Sunday afternoon, October 10, 2004, at the First Baptist Church at two o'clock. Officiating will be The Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrill. Burial will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening, October 9, 2004, from five until seven o'clock at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
