Georgetown:
James "Hippie" Edward Jacobs, 72, husband of Wanda "Cookie" Barnhill Jacobs, died Monday, June 1, 2020, at his residence.
Mr. Jacobs was born in Conway on November 24, 1947, a son of the late Willard Edelle Jacobs and Lena Belle Sarvis Jacobs.
Mr. Jacobs grew up in Georgetown and attended Winyah High School. He worked for International Paper Company as a heavy equipment operator for forty-four years until retirement, where he was considered a legend. He attended Maryville Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mr. Jacobs was a "Piddler" and could fix just about anything, He built his children's first computer from scraps. Mr. Jacobs was a real jokester and loved making people laugh and had an infectious smile. He loved kids, all animals, and always picked up strays and gave them a good home. Hippie was so very proud of his grands and their accomplishments.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jacobs was predeceased by: a brother, Billy Jacobs.
Surviving are: his wife of Georgetown, a son, James E. Jacobs, Jr. (Laura) and a daughter, Misty Kate Jacobs Gause, both of Georgetown; five grandchildren, James Edwards Jacobs III (Casey), Brook Elaine Perkins (Cameron), Tristan James Casselman, Savannah Kate Casselman and Isaac Stone Casselman; and two great-grandchildren, Layla Perkins and Carter Edelle Jacobs.
Graveside services with military rites will be eleven o'clock Thursday, June 4, 2020, at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Pastor Tommy Cox.
