Georgetown:
James Lee Lanford, 65, died Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at Roper Hospital in Charleston.
Mr. Lanford was born in Columbia on February 13, 1941, a son of the late Louie Fleming Lanford and Mae Loraine Davis Lanford. He attended the University of South Carolina on a full baseball scholarship and was Captain of the team. While at the University, Mr. Lanford was President of the Block C Club and Commander of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Upon graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Captain. Mr. Lanford was a Jet Pilot and Flight Instructor. After the Service, he came to Pawleys Island as Manager of Production of hammock manufacturing at the Hammock Shop. Mr. Lanford was an active member of All Saints Church where he served on the Vestry, was a Junior Warden, and led many Bible studies. He was co-owner and operator of LRS Construction Co.
Mr Lanford was predeceased by: two brothers, Louie Fleming Lanford and Robert Davis Lanford.
Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Emogene E. Lanford of the home; two sons, Lee Fleming Lanford and his wife Jill Pendergrass Lanford of Murrells Inlet, and Scott Davis Lanford and his wife Sarah Sheree Lanford of Pawleys Island; three grandsons, Patrick S. Lanford of Pawleys Island, James A. Lanford and Bowen L. Lanford, both of Murrells Inlet; two granddaughters, Madeline F. Lanford of Murrells Inlet and Camryn S. Lanford of Pawleys Island; a sister, Patricia L. Player of Pawleys Island.
Memorial services will be two o'clock Friday afternoon, September 22, 2006, at All Saints Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Terrell L. Glenn, Jr.
