McClellanville:
James Edward Scott, III, 66, died Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at East Cooper Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Scott was born in Charleston on July 25, 1944, a son of the late Dr. James Edward Scott, Jr. and Frances Cade Scott Cain. He graduated from McClellanville High School, attended The Citadel and served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Scott was a boat captain and commercial fisherman for 45 years. For the past 37 years, he was the captain of the Mary Margaret. Mr. Scott was a former state and local president of the S.C. Shrimper's Assoc. and served on the McClellanville Town Council for a number of years.
Surviving are: his wife, Mary Morrison Scott of McClellanville; three sons, James Edward Scott, IV (Sharon) and John Hay Scott (Leslie), both of McClellanville, and Hugh Morrison Scott (Leigh) of Charleston; a daughter, Margaret Scott Crouch (Bill) of McClellanville; a brother, George Francis Scott (Sarah) of McClellanville; and five grandchildren, James Edward Scott, V, Mary Katherine Scott, Elizabeth Virginia Scott, Lillian Tillia Crouch and Eliza Seabrook Crouch. Mr. Scott was predeceased by a brother, John Cade.
Funeral services will be at eleven o'clock on Saturday morning, October 23, 2010, at the Robert E. Ashley Landing in McClellanville. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Walter G. Cook. Burial will follow in New Wappetaw Presbyterian Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at their home at 431 Pinckney St. in McClellanville on Friday evening, October 22, 2010, from six until eight o'clock.
