Jane Patterson Thomas, age 81, a devoted woman of faith, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, on January 13, 2026. She was born in Petersburg, Virginia on October 17,1944, the daughter of the late William Ashby Patterson and Louise Patterson Mason. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of forty-four years, Gerald Kent Thomas.

Jane loved the Lord with all of her heart. Her church was central to her life, and she found great joy in worship, especially in singing the Lord's hymns. Music and faith were expressions of her gratitude and trust in God, which she shared freely with those around her.

Jane was a devoted member of Central United Methodist Church in Charlotte for twenty-five years, where she sang in the choir and served many roles in the church. She formed many cherished friendships and found deep fellowship among her sisters in Christ. She also held a special bond with her "beach girls," friends of more than fifty years whose annual beach trips became a treasured tradition filled with shared laughter, tears, and lifelong memories.

Upon her retirement, Jane and her husband relocated to Pawleys Island, where she became a faithful member of Duncan Memorial Methodist Church in Georgetown, South Carolina, for the next twenty-five years. There, she continued her love of music by singing in the choir. In addition, she found great joy in serving as a Stephen minister.

Jane was also a dedicated steward to her community. She generously gave her time and talents through many years of service with the Lions Club, including serving as President of the Pawleys Island chapter and later as District Governor of the South Carolina chapter, always seeking ways to help others and strengthen the community she loved.

In her spare time, Jane enjoyed doing needlework, reading, taking long walks on the beach, and spending time with Jerry and her pups.

Above all else, Jane cherished her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild were her pride and joy, and she loved them deeply and unconditionally. She is survived by her children: Kim Hales (Stan), Michelle, William Burba (Wycille), and stepdaughter Kiersten Thomas Frost; her grandchildren, Pressley Hales (Brianna) and Sydney Hales; and her great-granddaughter, Brynn Elizabeth Hales.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers from Home Instead, with special thanks to Suette Mickel and Sharon Freeman, whose kindness and dedication brought great comfort. They are also deeply appreciative of the support and care provided by Crescent Hospice during Jane's final days.

Jane will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her servant's heart, her beautiful singing voice, and the quiet strength with which she lived her life.
