Andrews: Janelle Alverta Ray Gamble, 83, widow of Samuel R. Gamble, passed away October 25, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her family. Mrs. Gamble was born August 15, 1936, in the Andrews area of Georgetown County, a daughter of the late Jessie "Bubba" James Ray and Nellie Eleanor Floyd Ray. Mrs. Gamble grew up in Andrews and graduated from Andrews High School. She is Baptist by faith and attended Goudines Chapel. She loved her church family and her Savior Jesus Christ. Mrs. Gamble worked as a secretary for Oneita Knitting Mills and was also employed at Andrews Bank and Trust. She served over 25 years before retirement for the Georgetown Public School System at Browns Ferry and Rosemary Middle School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Gamble is predeceased by: two brothers, Marion Ray and Gene Ray; and a grandson, Justin Gamble. Surviving are: two sons, Samuel "Randy" Gamble (Teressa), and James L. Gamble (Penny) both of Andrews; a daughter, Deborah Gamble Daniels (Joseph) of Inverness, FL; two sisters, Cynthia Ray Ard and Teresa Ray both of Andrews; five grandchildren, Trey Daniels, Traci Gamble, Ryan Gamble Tiffany Rufus and Zachary Gamble; and one great-granddaughter, Sutton Rufus and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Monday, October 28, 2019, in Gourdines Chapel at eleven o'clock. Officiating will be the Rev. Terry Dennis. Burial will follow in Piney Forest Cemetery.
