Hunting Valley, Ohio:
Janet Jones McCall, 86, died Saturday, February 4, 2006, at her residence after a long illness.
Mrs. McCall was born in Chicago, Ill., on November 11, 1919, a daughter of the late Eli Sherman Jones and Berta Herold Jones. She graduated from Miss Porter's School of Farmington, Conn., in 1938 and from Rollins College in Florida in 1942. Mrs. McCall was a long time resident of Darien, Conn. In 1971, her husband became Chairman of the Board of National City Bank Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio. She remained in Darien, Conn. while her children completed school and joined him in 1974.
Mrs. McCall was very active with the Red Cross during World War II, serving in several capacities to include visiting patients and transportation duties. While living in Darien, she volunteered for many years with the Darien Children's Aid Society. After moving to Cleveland, she became very active in local cultural and philanthropic endeavors. Mrs. McCall was a trustee in the Cleveland Ballet and the Center for Performing Arts. She was a member of the 20th Century Club and the Shaker Lakes Garden Club. Mrs. McCall was a tireless fundraiser for her charities and organizations and hosted many luncheons and lectures in her home. At any given time, however, she would find the time to cook casseroles and other dishes for her sick friends, or any one of her friends who may have been going through a death in their family.
Surviving are: her husband, Julien L. McCall of Hunting Valley, Ohio; two daughters, Melissa McCall of Hunting Valley, Ohio and Alison McCall of New York City, N.Y.; a son, Julien "Lash" L. McCall, Jr. of London, England; and three grandchildren, Blinn, Julia, and Andrew Cushman.
Funeral Services will be ten thirty o'clock Saturday morning, February 11, 2006, in Old All Saints Church, Waccamaw in Pawley's Island. Officiating will be the Rev. Terrell L. Glenn, Jr. and the Rev. Alan Houghton. Burial will follow in All Saints Church, Waccamaw, Churchyard.
