Obituary

Georgetown: Jean Moody entered into eternal rest in the 1st day of December, 2017. Jean Flournoy Moody, widow of George Raymond Moody, resided in the city of Georgetown SC. A memorial service will be eleven o'clock Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at Georgetown Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Moody was born July 31, 1921 to Van Gibson Flournoy and Frances Barbara Finks Flournoy in Lamar Missouri. She graduated from Lamar High School and attended Missouri University and George Washington University in Washington DC. She was employed for 15 years in Washington DC, Portsmouth VA, and Charleston, SC before moving to Georgetown in 1955, where she worked for the Georgetown hospital system and the Georgetown Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Moody was active in civic affairs, serving on the city planning and zoning commission, the board of the Myrtle Beach Coastal Concert Association, the Pawleys Island chapter of the AARP, and the Georgetown Concert Association. She served as secretary for the Georgetown Presbyterian Church for many years. She volunteered for Georgetown Hospital, Hospice House, Saint Francis Animal center, Chamber of Commerce, The Red Cross, and the Swamp Fox Players. She is survived by a cousin, Linda Douglas of Phoenix, AZ, her special friend and "chosen" grandson, Ernest Merchant of Pawleys Island, SC and her closest friend Rody Stegall of Georgetown, SC.
