Margaret Jeanette Cook-Barbee, 91, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025. Born on August 10, 1933, in West Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Evelyn (Williams) Jeffcoat.

She is survived by her sisters, Jackie Smith of West Columbia and Jackie Crosby of Lexington; her devoted daughter-in-law, Marie Taylor-Bennett; grandchildren, Cali Everett, Marcus Taylor, Grant Taylor, Hampton Bennett, Alexis Allison, Cody Cook, Santana Lucas, and Madison Franklin; as well as nine great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Lindsey Cook, the father of her son Stacy, her husband, Al Barbee, and two sons, Mark Taylor and Stacy Cook. She is also survived by her former husband, Morris Taylor of West Columbia, the father of her son Mark,

The family extends heartfelt thanks to her caregiver Marsha Mobley and the compassionate staff of Amedisys Home Health and Hospice.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 PM at Laurel Baptist Church, 2250 Pine Street, West Columbia, SC 29170, on Friday, August 8, 2025. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the church. Interment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens, 820 W. Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Laurel Baptist Church.

The Downtown Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
