Jeannie Taylor Merrit, 78, of Georgetown, SC died on June 26, 2025 at NHC Healthcare-Garden City, SC.

Born July 25, 1946 in Georgetown, SC, she was the daughter of Wylie Pearce and Mary Agnes Rowe Taylor. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Carl Andrew "Bubba" Merritt, Jr, her beloved sister-in-law, Pamela O. Taylor, both of her parents and her former brothers-in-law, J. Larry Merritt and Robert D. Cox III.

Mrs. Merritt graduated from Winyah High School and was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Georgetown for over 60 years. She retired as an administrative assistant at Georgetown High School and was an active member of GHS Booster Club. She enjoyed all sports, was an avid SC Gamecock fan and was a lover of all animals. Her favorite hobbies included reading, watching movies, and studying the Bible. She especially loved being with her three grandsons, who were the loves of her life, each having their own special name for her, "Jeannie", "Granny Jeannie" and "Ga Ga".

Surviving are her three children, Candace M. (Robert) Johnson of Georgetown, SC, Carla M. (Roger) Mallinson of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Duncan T. (Kara) Merritt of Andrews, SC: her three grandsons, Griffith T. (EmiLee) Johnson, Andrew J. Merritt and Ridge L. Mallison; her two brothers, Wayne P. Taylor, Sr. and Daniel R. (Debbie) Taylor; her former sisters-in-law, Rebecca M. Cox, Kathy M. (Paul) Goodwin and Phyllis N. Scott, and several beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service in her honor will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Georgetown, SC from 3-4 pm in the Sanctuary. Visitation with the family will be held in the Parlor from 2 -3 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, Georgetown, SC and the National Alzheimer's Association.
