Obituary

Georgetown: Capt. Jerry Linwood "Lin" Fore, Jr., 69, husband of Melanie Bodiford Fore, died October 19, 2020, at MUSC Medical Center. Mr. Fore was born September 4, 1951, in Georgetown, a son of the late Jerry Linwood Fore, Sr. and Betty Jo Phillips Fore. Lin grew up in Georgetown, graduated from Winyah High School and received an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering from Horry/Georgetown Technical College. He worked for International Paper Company for 20 plus years and then decided to pursue his passion of the outdoors. Lin was a member of Screven Baptist Church, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and Past President of the Five Rivers Coalition. He sat on the South Carolina Waterfowl Advisory Board, was a licensed Coast Guard Captain, owner and operator of Low Country Expeditions Guide Service, an avid outdoorsman, lifelong conservationist, a legend in his own right, a great friend, and a mentor to many. Lin was a very honest person, even if it hurt, and was a history enthusiast. He loved his family and friends. He was adamant in his belief to "Remember that your obligations are first to your family, second to your state and third to the United States of America. Participate in the process, vote, speak out against injustice, and cherish your freedom. Never let anyone make you ashamed of where you came from or your heritage. Do the right thing; in your heart you know what's right. Protect your family name, Believe in God (How could you not, Look around you at creation). Fear God, Trust in God, if you don't all is lost." Surviving are: his wife of Georgetown; a son, Jerry Linwood Fore, III (Leslie); a daughter, Keri Lynn Fore Pope; a stepson, Billy Newton (Allison); Grandchildren, Ashlin and Jaxson Fore, Zoey Pope, Eliza Blakely and Noah Newton: a brother, Wayne Fore; a sister, Elizabeth Byrdic (Jimmy); his beloved niece, Jenny Bodiford; two nephews, Hunter and Cody Byrdic; and a great-nephew, Case Edwin Byrdic. Funeral Services will be outdoors, two o'clock Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Screven Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service outdoors at the church from twelve until two o'clock.
