Jimel Baz, 74, passed away August 8, 2014 at the Florida Hospital in Tampa, FL due to heart failure. Twins (Jimel and Eugene) were born, August 12, 1939, to Edith Moyd and Ralph Abbes Baz.
He was predeceased by his Mom and Dad and two brothers: Ralph (Bubba), Jr and Turk N. Baz. His twin, Eugene lived only 5 days after birth.
Survived by: his fiancé, Cynthia Strobel; 2 sons, Shane and Jonathan Baz of Winter Haven, FL.; 3 daughters, Sheila Tisdale of Kingstree, SC, Trudy Marlow of Lake City, and Leah Baz of Winter Haven. Brothers include Sharkey, Franklin, Douglas, L.A. (Lavern), and Richard. 2 Sisters, Edith Caufield of Lakeland, Fla. and R. Elizabeth Smith of Myrtle Beach, SC. Jimel, the loving granddad, also leaves behind 7 beautiful grandchildren and 4 wonderful great- grandchildren. They will miss their "Poppy" so much.
Jimel was a long time member (50 years) of the Masonic Lodge and the Rotary Club of Winter Haven. He was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow as well. Jimel was a visionary regarding business – successfully investing in and operating a variety of business opportunities throughout his life. He enjoyed his private pilot days, traveling in his motor home and spending time with his grand and great- grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 10 AM in Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. C. Craig Harris, ( husband of Jimel's niece) will officiate. Mayer Funeral Home is in charge.
