DARLINGTON - Joan Christina Flenniken, 92, of Darlington died Tuesday, December 29, 2009. A private funeral service will be held on Friday, January 1, 2010 at 1:00 PM in the Mayer Funeral Home Chapel in Georgetown, SC, directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home of Darlington. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery in Georgetown. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Darlington, SC. Mrs. Flenniken was born in Devon, England, a daughter of the late Wallace and Lilian Weston Dowell. She was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church and the altar guild for many years. Mrs. Flenniken was a member of the Renaissance Club and an artist. She enjoyed reading and playing bridge. Mrs. Flenniken was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband, Warren S. Flenniken. Survivors include two sons, Warren (Ellen) Flenniken of Fernandina Beach, FL, and Jim (Donna) Flenniken of Suwannee, GA, three daughters, Sandra (Joel) Dekle, and Ibby (Dill) Harper, both of Florence, and Jane (Barry) Kelly of Franklin, TN, one sister, Alma Loveridge of Loganville, GA, four nieces and two nephews. She had fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 210 S.
