Georgetown: Joanna Smith Kann, 73, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at her residence. Mrs. Kann was born in Marion on May 16, 1935, a daughter of the late Clarence Smith and Daisy Collins Smith. She grew up in Socastee and lived on Johns Island prior to moving to the North Santee Community of Georgetown County. Mrs. Kann was predeceased by: a son, Roger Causey. Surviving are: her husband, Donald L. Kann of Georgetown; two sons, Mike Causey and Alan Kann, both of Columbia; three daughters, Teresa Lough of Axis, Ala., Patty Hewitt of Wilmington, N. C., and Deborah Sellers of Bolivia, N. C.; a brother, C. W. Smith of Conway; a sister, Tina Brigham of Myrtle Beach; thirteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be private.
