Pawleys Island:
Joanne Tuten Bellamy, 81, widow of John Samuel Bellamy, died Friday, November 19, 2021, at her residence.
Mrs. Bellamy was born in Hartsville on May 24, 1940, a daughter of the late James Edwin Tuten and Genevieve Stanley Tuten.
Mrs. Bellamy grew up in Georgetown and graduated from Winyah High School and received an associated degree from Coker College. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Georgetown, where she sang in the choir until her health failed. She was employed by The Container Division of International Paper Company for 38 years as a confidential secretary until her retirement. Mrs. Bellamy was loved by everyone and some said she helped them more that their own family. She could grow anything especially trees of all varieties, such as orange, fig and persimmon to name a few. Her great love was for her sheep dog, but she cared for and loved all animals.
Surviving are: two sons, Matthew "Matt" Bellamy of Pawleys Island and David Andrew Bellamy (Julia Davison) of Charlotte; a brother, James S. Tuten (Ruth) of Bonneau; and two grandchildren, Rachel and Jack Bellamy.
Memorial Services will be eleven o'clock Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at the First Baptist Church of Georgetown. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrill.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the sanctuary.
