McClellanville:
Joel Parker Jackson, 103, widower of Ethel M. Jackson, died Monday, February 03, 2014, at Hospice of Charleston.
Mr. Jackson was born in Awendaw on December 29, 1910, a son of the late John James Jackson and Carrie Lyons Jackson. He grew up in Awendaw and was a commercial fisherman. Mr. Jackson was a very dedicated Christian and loved reading the Bible. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Surviving are: a son, Burnett Jackson (Linda) of McClellanville; two daughters, Harriett Fort and Carole Allen, both of McClellanville; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Jackson was predeceased by seventeen siblings.
Funeral services will be held at eleven o'clock on Thursday morning, February 6, 2014, at New Wappetaw Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Steve Souther. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, February 5, 2014, at the home of Carole Allen, 1294 N. Pinckney St. in McClellanville, from six until eight o'clock.
