Pawley's Island: John Francis Doerr, 58, died Wednesday, October 1, 2003, in Calvert County, Maryland. Mr. Doerr was born in St. Louis, Mo. on February 11, 1945, a son of the late George William Doerr and Melba Gertrude Hackett Doerr. He moved to Pawley's Island from Florida in 1980 and was the owner of Doerr Construction Company. Mr. Doerr was a past chairman of the Georgetown Republican Party and the Georgetown County Board of Zoning of Appeals. He was a past president of the Horry/Georgetown Homebuilders Association and was the present chairman of Carolina Shores Home Owner's Association at Garden City Beach. Surviving are: his wife, Cynthia, of Pawley's Island; two sons, Jonathan Doerr and Christopher Doerr and his wife Mechelle, all of Pawley's Island; a grandson, Tyler Doerr of Sebago, Me.; ten brothers; and two sisters. Funeral services will be Sunday afternoon, October 5, 2003, at Pawley's Island Community Church Chapel at three o'clock. Officiating will be The Rev. Tripp Atkinson and Carl Doerr. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, October 4, 2003, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from six until eight o'clock.
