Obituary

Georgetown: John Michael Glenn, 68, died Friday, April 28, 2012, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mr. Glenn was born on November 6, 1943 in Tacoma, Wash., a son of the late James Thomas and Barbara Valenta Glenn. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Nancy Smith Glenn, and a brother, Jim. Surviving are: his companion, Quinn Smith, of Georgetown; and her family, a beloved daughter, Sarah Coleman; two grandchildren; a sister; and a number of relatives, all of the Seattle, Wash. area. John owned and operated race car teams and service stations in Washington and other western states. He came east in the 1970's and retired in 2000 from quality control positions with gas companies in Charlotte, N.C. He was a U.S. Army veteran who very proudly served his country as a Sergeant Combat Infantryman in Vietnam. John was a member of Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church and active in the Sunday school and Men's Club, and as a trustee. A memorial service, led by his pastor, Rev. Marie Nuckles of Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church, will be held at three o'clock on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at the church. Sign a guestbook at: www.mayerfuneralhome.com.
