Georgetown: John "Earl" Goodwin, Jr., 80, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at MUSC Hospital in Charleston. Mr. Goodwin was born in Fork on October 28, 1932, a son of the late John "Sam" Earl Goodwin and Nellie McKenzie Goodwin. He lived most of his life in Georgetown and served in the Georgetown Army National Guard. Mr. Goodwin was a former supervisor for Coburg Dairy and retired from Georgetown Steel Corp. He was involved with the Georgetown Church of the Nazarene for 58 years, and spent his life feeding the less fortunate. Surviving are: his wife, Joyce Marie Taylor Goodwin of Georgetown; three sons, Tommy Goodwin (Jeanie), Paul Goodwin (Kathy), and Robbie Goodwin, all of Georgetown; three grandchildren, P. J., Caitlyn, and Caroline Goodwin; a sister, Kate Miller; and special furry friend, Spunkie. In addition to his parents, Mr. Goodwin was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at one o'clock on Friday afternoon, December 14, 2012, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
