John "Jack" Parker Holloway died May 16 at home after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and Type I Diabetes.
Jack was born May 24, 1930 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Lawrence and Karolyn Kilmer Holloway of Colfax, Indiana. After graduating from Purdue University with a BS in Agriculture, Jack started his career with the General Electric Company in the advertising department. During the course of his thirty-two year career with General Electric, Jack worked in many of the corporation's divisions. Jack retired from GE in 1984 as manager of engineering at the company's Ballast Plant in Danville, Illinois. While in Danville, he served for many years on the Danville Symphony Board and the Danville Library Board, and also served on the Board of Trustees of St. James United Methodist Church.
Jack married Jane Burns Holloway of Georgetown, S.C. in 1961. In 1997, Jack and Jane returned to South Carolina to live.
Jack is survived by his wife; their two children, daughter Elizabeth (David) Pulliam of Atlanta, Georgia, and son, Lawrence Holloway (Adrain) of Versailles, Kentucky; five grandchildren, David Pulliam, John Pulliam, Parker Holloway, Taylor Holloway, and Karolyn Holloway; a sister Gretchen Holloway of Colfax Indiana; several nieces and nephews; and two very loving caregivers, Gloria Linnen and Louvinia Holmes. Jack was predeceased by a son Keith Parker Holloway and a brother William Holloway.
Services will be held at the Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church Chapel, 901 Highmarket St, Georgetown, SC, on Tuesday, May 19 at 2:00pm. Following the service at Duncan, there will be a reception of friends at the family home from 3:30 to 5:30 pm.
Memorials may be made to Duncan Memorial Church, Regency Hospice, or to the charity of one's choice.
The family would like to thank Judy Taylor of Regency Hospice and the other caregivers, Wendy Brown, Gardenia Trappier, and Queen James, for the care and comfort they have brought the family. Mayer Funeral Home of Georgetown is serving the family.
