John Edward Plunkett, 68 died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Tidelands Community Hospice.
Mr. Plunkett was born in Georgetown on February 22, 1947, a son of the late Ned Earl Plunkett, Sr. and Lillian Ulmer Plunkett. He grew up in Georgetown and graduated from Winyah High School, where he was a star basketball player. He attended Coastal Carolina University, where he also played basketball, and later attended the University of South Carolina. Mr. Plunkett worked for International Paper Company for over twenty years. He was known by many in the Georgetown community.
Surviving are: his wife of forty-six years, Marilyn Foster Plunkett of Georgetown; three brothers, Ned Earl Plunkett, Jr. (Gene) of Walterboro, Paul Plunkett (Debbie) of Goose Creek, and Richard Alan Plunkett of Columbia; and a number of beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be eleven o'clock Saturday morning, September 19, 2015, at the graveside in Andrews Memorial Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ben M. Gafford.
