Georgetown:
John "Jack" Russell Rockey, 83, died Sunday, April 5, 2015, at his residence.
Mr. Rockey was born in Macy, Ind. on December 14, 1931, a son of the late Russell Coon Rockey and Mary Edith Jones Rockey. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired in 1989 from United Parcel Service. Mr. Rockey was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, where he was a former Chairman of the Trustee Commission, taught the Trinity Sunday school class, participated on the Mission team, and was a member of United Methodist Men. He served on the Board of the Salvation Army and Midway Fire Dept. and was a former president of the Cultural Council.
Surviving are: his wife, Janet Rockey of Georgetown; and three daughters, Sue McGee (Wesley) of Jacksonville, N.C., Pam Ingram (Billy) of Pawleys Island, Lynn Simril of Lancaster; and five grandchildren, Joshua Presley (Miranda), Stacey Melton, John and Patrick Ingram, and Ryan McGee. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rockey was predeceased by two sisters.
Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Thursday morning, April 9, 2015, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Dora Gafford. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, April 8, 2015, from five until seven at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
