North Charleston:
John Jefferson Solley, Jr., 74, died Sunday, April 2, 2006, at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital in Charleston.
Mr. Solley was born in Bastrop, La. on May 26, 1931, a son of the late John Jefferson Solley and Pearl Means Solley. He grew up in Georgetown and was a graduate of Winyah High School. Mr. Solley worked for a number of years for an international shipping company. He served in the S. C. Army National Guard and the U. S. Army Reserve and retired with the rank of Major. Mr. Solley was a member of First Baptist Church in Georgetown.
Surviving are: a brother, Larry J. Solley, Sr. of Walterboro; a nephew, Larry J. "Toby" Solley, Jr. and his wife Linda of Clarendon, N. C.; three great-nephews; a great-niece; and his long time close friend, John M. "Murray" Joye, Jr. of North Charleston.
Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Tuesday morning, April 4, 2006, at the graveside in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens in Georgetown. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrill.
