Georgetown:
J. George Van Osterom, 87, died Sunday, December 26, 2010, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Van Osterom was born in Garfield, N.J. on March 29, 1923, the son of the late George W. Van Oosterom and Henrietta Scheele Van Oosterom. He was a proud veteran of World War II, where he served in the Navy on the Battleship New Mexico. Mr. Van Osterom retired after many years as an industrial engineer for U. S. Steel in both Cleveland, Oh. and Pittsburgh, Pa. He then moved to Georgetown, where he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6444 and Georgetown Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are: three sons, George W. Van Osterom of Baltimore, Md., John R. Nicholson and James P. Nicholson, both of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two daughters, Joyce Chamberlain of Tucson, Ariz. and Linda Levy of Palm City, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Van Osterom was predeceased by: his first wife, Lillian Sirna Van Osterom; his second wife Sarah Jane Lippincott Van Osterom; and a daughter, Patricia Ann Brown.
Memorial services will be at three o'clock on Saturday afternoon, March 12, 2011, at Georgetown Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will be private.
