Andrews:
Jon Phillip Cooper, 76, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at a family residence.
Jon Phillip was born in Piney Forest section near Andrews on November 28, 1939, a son of the late Marvin Ranson Cooper and Eula Mae McGee Cooper. He grew up in the Suttons community of Williamsburg County and graduated from Williamsburg High School. Jon Phillip was a member of Trio United Methodist Church since the age of sixteen. He retired from International Paper Co in Georgetown in 1997, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
Surviving are: three sons, Marvin Derrell Cooper (Kim) of Georgetown and Jon Phillip Cooper, II and Jason Morris Cooper (Nancy), both of Andrews; two brothers, Lloyd Cooper (Libby) and Kenneth Cooper (Patty); four sisters, Barbara Ann Gathright (John Byron), Sonya Rusgrove (Jim), Judy Moore (John) and Debbie McConnell (Kenny); ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be two-thirty o'clock Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dean Baber and the Rev. Terry L. Wilkerson. Burial will follow in Suttons United Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church prior to the service on Saturday from eleven until two o'clock.
