Joseph John Amann, 63, of Georgetown, SC passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on July 14 after a two-year battle with cancer.

Joseph was born the second son of George and Zion Amann of Georgetown, on March 30, 1960. He graduated from Winyah High School in 1978, and he went on to study business and marketing at Coastal Carolina. In 1986, Joseph met Sandra Floyd while she was working as a photographer in Georgetown. They were married the next year, and had two sons, Stephan and Scott, joining his first son, Joseph, from a previous marriage. In 1994, Joseph left the corporate world and started his own business, Amann Furniture Restoration, which he operated until the last few months of his life.

Joseph had a love of animals, welcoming a menagerie of wild and domesticated animals to their home. In his last years, he was particularly fond of his koi pond. He was artistic and creative, and had an incredible aptitude for ingenuity which he applied to his work with diligence and care.

Joseph was predeceased by his parents, and his older brother George.

He is survived by his wife, sons Joseph, Stephan (Holly), and Scott (Raegan), sisters Barbara Dumm (Jim), Helen Amann, Mary Jo Karre (Paul), Sarah Chiha (Eddy), Ann Hardee, and brothers Paul and Anthony (Sherry), as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews, and close family friends.

Joseph's memorial service was held July 22, 2023.
